An evening of Scottish Whisky

The Tasting will last approximately 1 hour. With our knowledgeable barman will meet your guests will have the opportunity to nose and taste 4 single malt whiskies from the four main whisky producing regions of Scotland; Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside and Islay.  Together, guests will be tutored through the five stages of “appreciating” Scotch Whisky; colour, body, nose, palate and finish. Whiskies are selected to illustrate regional differences, wood finishes, differing ages of maturation and methods of production.

Followed by a 3 course dinner using the finest local ingredients including Scottish whisky!

Glengoyne whisky barrel smoked salmon served with sour cream and handmade oatcakes
or
Salad of raw summer veg served with hazelnut dressing and lemon(v)

Char-grilled 30 day aged Borders Aberdeen Angus ribeye steak served with triple cooked chips & Bowmore whisky and pepper sauce
or
Home made open lasagne of Higland girolle mushroom with garlic tarragon cream & fennel, celery and orange salad.(v)

followed by

Summer fruits pudding served with whisky cream

Managing Director of Wild Green Travel Charlie Cornelius is very much a gourmet. Charlie is a menber of the Slow Food Convivium in Edinburgh . He is also the owner of Iglu , the award winning Scottish restaurant in the centre of Edinburgh. Iglu has been recommended by Michelin for the past two years and has just been judged at one of the best places in Edinburgh providing Scottish food by the List magazine. Iglu specialises in Seasonal, Scottish, Organic, Wild and Local produce.

Charlie has been to many of the farms that sell their produce at the  Edinburgh Farmer's Market and is available for private guided walking tours on some Saturdays.
